Rowens boarding kennel opened in 1972 to offer the individual care and personal attention we know you want your pet to have while in our hands. Our many services are designed to fit the needs of the wide variety of animals entrusted to our care.

Your pet is kept in a comfortable, climate-controlled area indoors. The kennel has an air purification system. Heat, air conditioning, or air exchange is provided as the season requires.

Your pet is secure at Rowens Kennels. The owners live on-site, and the facility is equiped with both security and fire alarm systems.

Kennel RunsAll dogs are housed separately in indoor quarters with an adjoining outdoor run of an appropriate size for the dog. Multiple dogs that are from the same household and who are compatible may be kept together. We provide beds and bedding as needed, but you may bring your dog's own bedding and toys. Older pets that have difficulty getting up are provided with a Dri-Dek surface which enables them to have maximum footing.

Cats are housed separately and may view the outdoors from their quarters, which is apart from the dog boarding area.

All dogs and cats are checked for fleas and ticks when coming in for boarding. If evidence of any are found, the animal must be treated prior to being placed in their quarters.

We use Iams food for both dogs and cats. If you have something special you would like your pet to be fed, you may bring it and we will be glad to use it.

If your pet is on heartworm preventive or has a medical problem which requires medication or treatment, we ask that you provide us with directions from your veterinarian and the prescribed medication and we will administer it as directed.

Immunizations
Dogs must have had Rabies (if 4 months and older), DHLPP , Bordatella and canine flu immunizations within the last year. Cats must have had Rabies and FVRCP within the last year. We also recommend the leukemia vaccination. Park Time for boarded pets

Park time
Park Time is an optional exercise time for boarded dogs. The dogs are taken outside on lead, weather permitting, or to the Training Center for a ten minute period of personal attention by a kennel attendant. Depending on the dog's needs, the time is spent walking, playing with a toy, petting, holding, and a treat.

Shuttle Service

We will provide transportation to and from your home, veterinarian and kennel for both boarding and grooming services.

Shipping Pets
If your pet needs to be shipped by air, we will make the necessary arrangements, including health and rabies certification, board the pet until you are ready to receive them in their new home, transport to the airport and arrange for transportation after the flight.

We also will pick up incoming pets and either board them or deliver them to their new home. We stock the USDA/CAB and airline approved carriers and can provide the necessary labels, identification and instructions needed for air shipping.

We service Lambert St. Louis International Airport (St. Louis, MO) and St. Louis Regional Airport (East Alton, IL).
